AMP YOUR STYLE IN 60 SECONDS # 5 : Simple Habits to Improve your Style in 30 days
As we move into a New Year, it's a great time to reassess your wardrobe and whether your clothing collection is still working for you (or in the case of some items, whether they ever did!).
So start as you mean to go on and develop some key strategies to manage your wardrobe effectively, get the most out of your money AND wear outfits that make you feel great.
BEFORE YOU START
Take the opportunity to clear out your wardrobe. Try everything on and be ruthless about removing anything that you know in your heart you won't wear or doesn't suit you. Either donate to charity or sell online.
- Identify Your Style. Unless you're a committed fashionista, this can seem scary or even limiting. But it's important to do this as we move through life; particularly when we go through major lifestyle changes. There are so many inspiration boards on Pinterest to help you with this, but often just looking at what you wear regularly vs what you don't, is a great clue.
- Organise Your Space. You can do this in a way that suits you. This could be by colour, by item type, season etc. The main aim is to be able to look inside your closet and SEE your clothing.
- Outfit Planning. If you have some time, plan your outfit the day before. That way, if things go pear and you're short on time, your outfit is sorted and you'll feel much more confident and put together.
- Don't Forget Accessories. As style continues to lean into a more casual vibe, accessories are an amazing way to elevate your outfit and stop you from feeling like you're perpetually running errands. When you're planning your outfits, don't skimp on time choosing your accessories. A great pair of earrings or a beautiful leather handbag, can totally elevate your look.
- Keep a Wish List. You Tuber Emma Hill has a great video on this. It's essentially keeping a vision board on Pinterest of things that you think you might need to add to your wardrobe, whether that's seasonally or annually. Emma doesn't buy the items straight away. She creates her vision board and constantly reviews it, allowing items to drop off, if on reflection they don't work in reality.
