AMP YOUR STYLE IN 60 SECONDS : #1 Tonal Dressing
Welcome to our "Amp Your Style" series of short blogs. These are designed to give you some quick inspiration around how to elevate your look and are less than a minute to read (ish).
What is Tonal Dressing?
Tonal dressing is where you create a look that features only shades within the same colour family. It's particularly effective in Autumn and Winter when we generally tend to layer more anyway and it works especially well with neutrals. When used with these wardrobe building shades, it's an amazing hack that upgrades your look and gives your outfit that "old money" aesthetic..... Think black & greys, browns and camels, deep forest greens and olives - you get the picture.
To start you on your way, here are some Pinterest examples of tonal mood boards.
What to consider
I'd argue that an "all black" outfit is not tonal dressing. What you want to aim for here is the effect of creating depth and texture by mixing different intensities of colour and fabrics. This is what will really pull together the look overall.
So, what do you think? Will you give tonal dressing a go?
